After nine years at Off the Rails, we have decided to move onto a new venture at the nearby Plockton Shores Restaurant and local store. We have extensively renovated the Plockton Stores into a smart new restaurant, along with a small but well stocked village store. Nestling on the shores of Loch Carron, you can take in the spectacular views from across the bay and enjoy fresh local fish and shellfish, succulent Aberdeen Angus steaks, venison and a selection of meat and vegetarian dishes, using fresh local produce(whenever possible), all cooked with care and attention by the chef proprietor, Our scallops are hand dived off the local coasts and supplied by Maddie at Kyle The steaks and most other meats are delivered frequently by George our local butcher The langoustines are fished by the Plockton based fishermen – Gavin and Ronan Venison is sourced from Scottish glens and supplied by Roy of Letterfinlay, Fort William The fish is reeled in by Andy Race and his crew from Mallaig and Andy Wiseman of Aultbea Mussels are grown in the waters of Loch Eishort on the Isle of Skye Award winning cheeses are churned in the local village of Achmore by David and Kathy During the day we serve a hearty Scottish or Continental Breakfast, a selection of light Lunches (including freshly made sandwiches using bread baked on the premises) and a choice of dishes from our grill including fish and shellfish. There are vegetarian options and a children’s menu always available From our Dinner Menu why not sample the following dishes:- Our famous Cullen skink – Andys lightly flaked smoked haddock in a potato and parsley soup Lightly pan-roasted saddle of venison with port and redcurrant juices on creamy Arran mustard mash Fresh local sea bass fillets seared on the griddle, layered with aubergine and and oven roasted tomatoes and drizzled with a delicate vierge dressing Maddie's hand dived scallops roasted with cumin, on spiced apple and celeriac purée Tasty homemade sweets including the infamous sticky toffee pudding ( there goes the diet!) light strawberry pavlova and rich chocolate mousse cake with homemade ice creams Local cheeses with Hebridean oatcakes are always a winner. We offer a carefully chosen Wine List to complement all tastes During your visit why not take a browse round our store, maybe take home a treat for later.
